Excel Macro Security for Excel 2000 - 2003

For Excel 2000 on, Microsoft usually ships Excel with the macro security level set at high. This prevents any macro from running. If the macro security level on your PC is set at high, the demo will not work until you change the setting.

To change the setting, open an Excel workbook, then:

  • Select "Tools" from the toolbar
  • Select "Macro"
  • Select "Security"
  • Select "Medium"
  • Select "OK"

When you open the demo, you will be asked to enable or disable the macros. Select "Enable Macros." Excel will now give you this warning when you open any workbook containing macros.

Excel Macro Security for Excel 2007

Open an Excel workbook. Then:

  • Select Office Button
  • Select Excel Options
  • Select Trust Center
  • Select Trust Center Settings
  • Select "Disable All Macros with Notification"

When you open an Excel workbook with a macro, you will see a security warning that the macros have been disabled. There will be an options button. Select that and enable the macro.

File is Corrupt Message

Some users have reported getting this message when trying to download the demo.  The downloaded version should be about 17 MB in size.  If you get this message and right click on the downloaded file, it will probably be about 600KB in size.  If this is the case, your anti-virus program is most likely stopping the download of the software program.  The program was written using Visual Basic for Applications.   Some anti-virus programs pick this code up as a possible source of a virus.  You can download the program by turning off your anti-virus program and then turning it back when you have download the program.  You can also select Run instead of Save when prompted.
